This week, I was privileged to attend a Central American Apostolic Missions Retreat in Belize. It was a thrill to connect with fellow apostolic missionaries and feel their contagious excitement as they look forward to 2025 with purpose and mission.
While walking early one morning along the contour of a beautiful Belizean river, I noticed a nearby parcel of land that was almost useless because of the sandy composition of the terrain. To make matters worse, there was a noticeable dip in the lot's middle.
Uneven, unleveled tracts of land often require heavy fill-in dirt and even compacted rock gravel to firm the soil up for construction!
But, if you look carefully at the picture, they use rubber car tires as a fill-in material!
After putting a layer of topsoil over the tires, the plot of land could even look nice. However, tires have no foundational stability! The land owner is deceiving himself (and all future owners should he sell the land!).
Do not deceive yourself! Foundational building of your soul/ministry REQUIRES hard, solid stones! You can use sand (so much cheaper), but in the long term, sand washes away after just a few thunderstorms.
Apostolics who do not have a strong doctrinal foundation will wash out (sell out) to the sands of hip-hip-hooray praise teams and/or the cotton candy preaching of “there is no hell.”
Much like sand, rubber car tires are not biodegradable and have no solidness in their composition.
You need Rock Solid Preaching to be a stable apostolic!
